About the Brand

Estaz is a Nigerian sustainable brand founded in April 2018 by Esther Okonta Onyebuchukwu. At its core, Estaz is more than fashion — it is a movement that redefines elegance through sustainability, innovation, and cultural storytelling.

The brand celebrates the strength, confidence, and sensuality of women, creating bold silhouettes and timeless designs that empower them to stand unapologetically in their beauty. Beyond aesthetics, Estaz is committed to addressing fashion’s environmental footprint by championing eco-conscious practices — from using biodegradable fabrics such as jute and raffia, to reworking fabric waste into handwoven masterpieces that extend the life cycle of textiles.

Notable collections like “Rewoven” and “Back to the Root” embody this vision, weaving together African heritage, artisanal craftsmanship, and modern couture. Each piece carries a story — not just of beauty and innovation, but also of responsibility, proving that fashion can be both luxurious and sustainable.

Through this vision, Estaz Clothing stands as a bridge between creativity, community, and commerce, shaping Africa’s fashion future with purpose-driven design.

Collections

Rewoven Collection

Each piece in the collection is crafted from discarded fabrics, carefully handwoven into richly textured garments. Each line, carefully to accentuate a womans form.

Bact to the Root Collection

Crafted from upcycled jute sack, raffia, and fabric scraps transformed with the indigenous hand-braiding technique of the African people, the collection explores sustainability.

Our Thought Process

Our creative journey begins with a question: How can we honor the past while reshaping the future of fashion?

We believe that waste is not an end, but a beginning. Our approach to design embraces reuse and reinterpretation as powerful tools for innovation. We source fabric scraps from other fashion stores, as well as discarded materials sold as “bales” — often dismissed as stained, weak, or unfit for use. Where others see flaws, we see potential. These fragile or blemished fabrics are carefully reworked and handwoven, breathing new life into them and transforming waste into textiles that emerge stronger, textured, and artistically beautiful.

Through this process, biodegradable fibers like jute and raffia are sculpted into couture silhouettes, and our rental service ensures garments live beyond a single wear — extending their stories across many women’s experiences.

For us, sustainability is not just a practice, but a philosophy of continuous reinvention. By merging traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, we transform what was once overlooked into bold, timeless statements of culture, confidence, and conscious living.

We reduce textile waste through upcycling jute sacks and hand-weaving defective fabrics into couture pieces. Our rental service further promotes circular fashion, extending garment lifecycles and reducing the one-wear culture.

We prioritize biodegradable fibers such as upcycled jute and raffia, we minimizes reliance on synthetic, petroleum-based fabrics that contribute to pollution and climate change. Our design process lowers environmental impact and tackles fashion waste at its root

Estaz empowers women through fashion, with designs crafted by women, for women, to feel bold, confident, and unapologetically beautiful. Beyond the runway, we collaborate with local hair weavers, creating opportunities for skill development and income.

By sourcing waste from local markets, engaging artisans, and building a rental model that creates recurring value, Estaz contributes to job creation and fosters sustainable economic growth within communities.

Our Vision

To lead a new era of African fashion where sustainability and innovation shape global couture, inspiring a future where fashion empowers women, protects the planet, and transforms communities.

Our Mission

At Estaz, our mission is to create luxury fashion with purpose — designs that empower women, celebrate culture, and protect the environment. We craft with eco-conscious fabrics like jute and raffia, and reimagine textile waste into handwoven textiles that extend fabric lifecycles.

Our rental service encourages circular fashion, reducing the impact of single-use couture. By blending African heritage with modern couture techniques, we create bold, timeless silhouettes while championing sustainable production. At every step, Estaz provides a platform for women to feel confident, bold, and unapologetic in their self-expression — proving that sustainability and innovation are not compromises, but the future of luxury fashion.

Short-Term Goal

To expand Estaz’s impact by developing more eco-conscious collections that showcase the potential of biodegradable fabrics and reworked textiles, while strengthening our rental service as a sustainable alternative to single-use couture.

In the immediate future, Estaz aims to increase community collaborations with local artisans and fabric markets to source waste more effectively, and to amplify our presence on runways like Lagos Fashion Week, positioning the brand as a leader in sustainable luxury within Africa.

Long-Term Goal

To establish Estaz as a global leader in sustainable luxury fashion, championing a future where African creativity drives global conversations on innovation and responsibility. Over the next decade, Estaz aims to build a fully circular design system — where waste is consistently transformed into beauty, garments are designed for longevity, and rental and reuse become mainstream practices.

Beyond fashion, Estaz seeks to contribute to a sustainable Nigeria, inspiring communities, creating jobs, and leading climate-conscious initiatives that redefine how fashion can empower women, protect the environment, and transform society.

Estaz in the Press

Estaz Clothing has been spotlighted across national platforms for its bold approach to sustainable fashion. From runway showcases to media features, the brand continues to inspire conversations on innovation, culture, and circular design.
